P.E.

Tuesday and Wednesday - This half term the children will be focussing on ball skills. We will be using Basketball to gain the skills on control, dribbling and passing. We will eventually develop these skills into our own Invasion Games.

We will also focus on fitness and the scientific reasoning behind exercise and warming up and stretching.

Spring Term 2017

English in Elm

This half term we will be focussing our English work around 'The Darkest Dark' by Chris Hadfield. The book links perfectly into our science topic of earth and Space. The children's writing outcomes for this unit of work are going to be a setting / character description, a diary, a newspaper report and finally, an adventure story through Space! The children will recap through skills such as relative clauses, expanded noun phrases, bracket/dashes/ commas for parethesis and apostrophes for possession. We will also delve deeper into our understanding of space and especially the astronaut, Chris Hadfield.

Elm's Topic

Our topic work this half term is all about 'The Indus Valley Civilization'. We will begin with a short and simple chronology of this historic period and delve deeper into the location of them and also what they did to impact history. We will be making links and looking at some similarities and differences between Indus Valley and modern day life and history.
