Peach and Pear Class

Welcome to our class page! Here you will find lots of useful information about our learning and about the things we are getting up to in Peach and Pear class.

Autumn Term

During the Autumn Term, we got to know the children through our 'ALL ABOUT ME' topic. We enjoyed finding out each others likes and dislikes, how many people are in our families, where we live and what makes us all special and unique. The children thoroughly enjoyed the topic and the children's interests led us to looking at and learning all about doctors. We made our own doctors surgery and wrote lists of things we needed to go in there. With the children maintaining enthusiasm about our last topic, we continued the theme, looking at vets and pets! We found out the different animals that you can keep as a pet, who has a pe and how you look after them. We enjoyed sharing stories such as 'Silly Doggy' and the 'Great Pet Sale' and used these in our writing and maths.

Spring Term

During the first half of the Spring Term, the children learned all about Winter! Using their investigation skills, they identified signs of winter, linking to key texts 'Percy The Park Keeper's One Snowy Night,' 'The Snow Queen' and 'The Gruffalo's Child.' Using information books and the internet, we found out about animals that live in cold climates and thought about how we could help animals in our own local area during winter.

We took on a different focus during Spring Term 2, welcoming the children to the ‘School of Magic.’ With the ‘Greatest Showman’ in mind, the children found out about the different jobs at the circus and used their writing and number skills to make and sell tickets. They enjoyed turning the role play into a circus and reading the story ‘If I ran the Circus,’ by Dr. Seuss. Continuing the theme of magic, the children’s interests led us to looking at witches and wizards, where the children enjoyed writing and creating potions!

Summer Term

This half term, the children will be exploring the world of DINOSAURS! We will be learning about what the world was like all those millions of years ago and the similarities and differences of dinosaurs to other animals. We will share stories such as ‘Tyrannosaurus Drip,’ and ‘Dear Dinosaur’ as well as looking at non-fiction books and their key features. We will be working hard towards our Early Learning Goals this half term – if you have any questions about these, please pop in to see your child’s class teacher.

Please see our topic web for more details about our learning this term. As we strive to be the best learners we can be, please do pop in with any information or resources you may feel are relevant to our topic that you would like to share.
